Orrefors museum - Glasrikets skatter - Glasriket

The Orrefors Museum houses and displays the unique historical glass collection from the Orrefors Glassworks, all gathered in one place. Everything from the past to the present is represented in the collection on display in the exhibition hall. The Orrefors Glassworks was founded as early as 1898 and has since been closely associated with beautiful crystal glass, quality, and exceptional craftsmanship.

Our goal is to preserve the collection and its associated archives, to continue exhibiting and making Orrefors’ historic art glass accessible, and to spread knowledge—both nationally and internationally—about this unique cultural heritage. Every year, Glasrikets Skatter organizes exhibitions and events at the Orrefors Museum.

In its heyday, Orrefors attracted nearly 600,000 visitors annually and was one of Sweden’s leading tourist destinations. When glass production ceased, visitor numbers plummeted and the community lost its vitality. However, the Orrefors Museum and its art glass remain one of Sweden’s strongest brands, and the collection is part of both a national and international cultural heritage that must be preserved for the future.
