At Grönåsen Moose and Wildlife Park, one of Sweden’s largest moose parks, you can stroll along the 1,300-meter-long forest trail around the park’s three moose enclosures and get up close to the animals.
You’ll get to experience moose and fallow deer in their natural habitat and see moose at different stages of life. Moose are ruminants, which means that between meals they lie still to aid digestion. So take your time. Moose get up to eat and drink several times a day, and if you’re lucky, you might even see them take a bath. Along the trail, there are several benches where you can take a break, or why not climb up into one of the observation towers? The moose you encounter each have their own personalities, with their own names and dispositions. Some moose are completely unafraid and can be both affectionate and playful, while others are more reserved.
At the Älgshopen, you’ll find everything related to moose. At the shop, you can also buy a moose burger or moose sausage to grill in the barbecue hut. You can buy ice cream, hot and cold drinks, and—during peak season—even a light snack. Be sure to check out the park’s other animals, such as goats, pigs, and chickens, and don’t miss a visit to the moose museum.
