Country Life

A two-day hike through the beautiful countryside of Glasriket. A fairly gentle hike that takes you through several sites of cultural significance and interesting places to visit. You’ll pass pastures and small communities.

The tour includes lodging, breakfast, dinner, and a snack bag to take along for the road. The tour begins at Ödevata Gårdshotell, includes an overnight stay at Rugstorps Lantgård, and concludes with another overnight stay at Ödevata Gårdshotell. Of course, you can also bike the entire route on your own, with a tent and a camping stove—and, of course, while respecting the right of public access.

Cycle the Emigrant Trail

Exploring Vilhelm Moberg’s emigration region by bike brings you closer to the story of Kristina and Karl-Oskar. It was here that Vilhelm Moberg drew inspiration for his world-famous stories. This is where you’ll find places like Ljuder, Klasatorpet, Duvemåla, Moshult, the Åkerby crossroads, Duvemåla, and Korpamoen, among others. The locations from the novel actually exist here in Glasriket, in Småland.

You can choose to cycle the route on your own or with lodging and meals included. Whichever option you choose, the spirit of history will accompany you on your journey, and it’s hard to get much closer to the history of the Småland countryside from the mid-1800s.

The Path to the Future

A 38-kilometer route packed with many exciting places to visit. Although it’s entirely possible to bike this route in a single day, we still recommend setting aside two days to make the most of the experience. The route takes you through both small towns where it’s easy to stock up on supplies and the Småland countryside. You’ll pass red farmhouses, wetlands, flower-filled meadows, and through forests.

If you’d rather not camp but would prefer a made-up bed to sleep in, we recommend both Vidinge Gård and Målerås Vandrarhem, which are located right along this route. Or you can take advantage of the Right of Public Access and choose your own accommodations during your bike trip.
