The Kingdom of Glass Glows 2024
The passion for the craft, the enthusiasm, and the show…
Preparations for the 2024 Glasriket Glöder event are in full swing, so get ready for the Tur i Glasriket tour on October 18–20.
It's so exciting when the process and the program are starting to take shape.
Our vision is: “We want to enhance the existing event with unique experiences aimed at both current and new visitors. We want to develop venues that are already of great importance to the tourism industry and take them to a new and larger scale.” Destination Glasriket’s role is to serve as a catalyst in this effort. We began this work in 2023 and will continue it in 2024.
Destination Glasriket has now held meetings with all the locations and also held a working group meeting to brainstorm ideas. Some matters are still in progress, while others have been finalized.
There are seven venues that have signed up for the 2024 event
Målerås Glassworks, Glass Factory, Orrefors Kosta Boda, Persson & Persson, Micke Johan, Orranäs Glassworks, and Pukeberg.
An exciting and creative project is now underway. The venues are working to create unique programs featuring food and drink, one-of-a-kind experiences, and, of course, a common theme centered on GLÖDEN. Quality is key. It’s incredibly exciting! In August, we’ll start getting a glimpse of the content, and we’ll then be sharing “SAVE THE DATE” announcements through various social media campaigns. Various types of campaigns will then run through October 18. On October 4, keep your eyes peeled—a supplement will be published alongside Blekinge läns tidning, Smålandsposten, and Barometern. The supplement will include a description of the “Glasriket Glöder” weekend. It will be distributed to 85,000 households and will also be shared digitally via a link.

On Friday , October 18, the Swedish Glassblowing Championship will take place in Kosta. It’s going to be a “spectacular” event featuring invited glassblowers from all over Sweden. Only 12 to 13 people will be able to attend, so a hot tip is that it’s “first come, first served.” It’s not yet clear how many people will have the opportunity to attend the championship. However, it’s clear that reservations will be required, but admission will be free. After the competition, Kosta will host an after-party where you can mingle with artists and designers. You’ll also be able to order food and drinks for the after-party.
Other activities are currently in progress.
On Saturday, October 19, visitors will be able to participate in both activities that require reservations and those that do not. You’ll have the opportunity to meet many talented designers who blend design and craftsmanship. Hyttsill will be a natural part of the day, but there will also be other exciting culinary experiences.
The activities are currently underway.
On Sunday, October 20, as part of the Glasriket Glöder event, there will be an “Shopping for New and Vintage Handicrafts at Glass Factory” event. Hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
