Bruno Mathsons glashus - Glasriket

In Kosta, you’ll find a home designed by Bruno Mathsson where time has essentially stood still since the 1950s. Here, retro style and modern comfort come together in perfect harmony. The apartment features large, light-filled glass windows that let in fantastic natural light and create a spacious atmosphere. Timeless details such as mosaic floors and carefully selected furniture give the home character and a sense of old-world elegance.

The apartment has two bright bedrooms that can accommodate four people, a modern bathroom, and a spacious kitchen perfect for enjoying delicious meals. Breakfast and access to the spa at the Kosta Boda Art Hotel are included.

A little history:

In 1950, Bruno Mathson was commissioned byVicke Lindstrand, the artistic director of Kostas, to design a row of townhouses with six apartments (which later became five) for the mill’s employees, primarily foremen and senior officials.

Each townhouse has a floor area of 108 m² and is built at an angle around a private courtyard, with the kitchen and living room facing the entrance and the bedrooms and bathroom set at an angle away from the courtyard.

An official rededication ceremony was held on June 14, 2007, in the presence of then-Minister of Culture Leif Pagrotsky. In connection with the ceremony, the County Administrative Board announced that it had decided to designate the glasshouses as historic buildings.
