Åkerby vägskäl - Glasriket

The memorial stone at Åkerby Vägskäl. It was here at Åkerby Vägskäl that many began their journey toward the land to the west; driven by the dream of freedom and a better life, they left their homeland behind.

But Ljuder lived on in their hearts. Vilhelm Moberg brought them to life in his epic novel about the emigrants. Ljuder is also often called Sweden’s most famous parish, thanks to Vilhelm Moberg’s novel *The Emigrants*.

There are also tables and benches here where you can enjoy the setting with a snack or meal you’ve brought along.
