On the Go at Glasiket
Fall is here. The peak season is over, and things are starting to “calm down,” right?
We’re wrapping things up by finishing our fall projects and reflecting on the past year. And soon, we’ll be setting our sights on 2025!
– On the weekend of October 18–20, we invite you to Glasriket Glöder. “When Småland is at its darkest, we glow the brightest! Here you’ll see masters at work in glowing glass shows, and there will be plenty of fun activities for kids and adults throughout Glasriket.”
We have a packed program with lots of activities taking place at our participating businesses. From the Swedish Glassblowing Championship to glass shows, magic shows, music, shopping, a glass auction featuring pieces from Lindshammar, and food & drinks with “Tastes of Glasriket.” Children’s activities, glassblowing, glass casting, exhibitions, an autumn market, “hytt sill”(a traditional dish), hands-on workshops… and much more. Check out the program here.
– On October 30, the housing network will meet at Café Blomstergläntan, this time with packaging as the theme.
The purpose of the network is for us to share knowledge and learn from one another to help our ideas take off. This time, we’ll hear from Thereze Lindén, who will offer tips and reflect on packaging and trends related to different target groups. How can we package our products to increase our profitability? Can we handle everything ourselves in our business, or should we collaborate with others?
– On November 7, we’ll be focusing on place development together with our municipalities.
Municipalities play an important role in working with organizations, the business community, and civil society to enhance the attractiveness of a place. “Soft” values—such as meaningful leisure time, safety, access to activities, and attractive surroundings—play a major role in where people choose to settle. With a shared strategy for how to achieve this, we create opportunities for all stakeholders to contribute to this development.
– On November 12 , we’re hosting an Entrepreneurship Day. We’re currently working on the program, so stay tuned. An invitation will be sent out soon.
– On November 25, representatives from Glasriket Tourist Information Centers and InfoPoint will meet to review the 2024 season. We will begin planning for 2025.
– On November 28, the Utvandrarleden project, together with us, is hosting an inspiration day with the theme: The Cycling Tourist Along the Utvandrarleden – Your New Target Audience?
The day promises to be informative and action-packed, with exciting insights and practical tips. Cycling is growing rapidly, and our region has the potential to attract more cycling visitors and tourists. Perhaps you have an idea or are simply curious to learn more about cycling guests and how you and your business can benefit from cycling and hiking trails.
The Utvandrarleden trail is an obvious choice for operators in the area to build packages around. But what other trails do we have in Glasriket that we can incorporate into our offerings?
See you at Hak—bistro and bowling, Nöjesindustrin in Emmaboda.
– We've just sent out a survey to our companies: How was the summer of 2025?
– We will soon be releasing a survey on how our companies view our mission and how we can improve it.
– Right now, we’re updating our database and website. We do this twice a year. It takes time, but it’s absolutely essential that the information on the website is accurate. We always strive to have a top-notch website—after all, it’s our “bible.”
– We’re planning this winter’s themes for our web posts; one will, of course, be Christmas. Other themes include “Experience Glasriket in Winter,” “Welcome—Come on In and Warm Up,” and so on.
– We are beginning work on Open Data and an open API. Our task will be to enter all of our companies in the tourism industry into the database. We are awaiting instructions and a template on how to proceed.
Information about the pilot project:
Visit Sweden and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth have jointly launched a pilot project aimed at creating a national tourism data portal and thereby helping Sweden become the world’s most sustainable and attractive travel destination based on innovation (the national strategy). Through shared and open data, we are creating a hub for information on STAY, EAT, DO, and SHOP, which can then be reused via an open API that enables both private and public actors to build digital services to develop and promote the tourism industry.
