Examples of pitches - Glasriket

Through the RV project, we have been able to both follow and/or support the development of pitches in the Glass Kingdom. As we know that the motorhome traveler appreciates variety, we have encouraged variety among other things. Here we wanted to present some of the pitches that have emerged during the project and highlight what we hope can be an inspiration to others who are thinking about creating or developing a pitch.

Mobile home at the Ösjöbol pitch, Glasriket

Hembygdsgården, which strengthens the town

In the north of the Kingdom of Glass, in the small village of Ösjöbol, there is a nice and active homestead. Outside the homestead, there were flat surfaces with good bearing capacity, so it was possible to establish 3 pitches without major investments in ground work. Broadly speaking, it was only the drawing of electricity that was needed to be able to offer electricity to all the locations.

To the homestead there was already a detached small house where there were toilets, a shower, a sauna and a washing machine. This could be used by the motorhome guests as a fully equipped and fresh service house, which has been appreciated by the visitors.

"Like ending up in the Småland idyll. 3 seats so no crowding. Nature and chickens outside the door. A place for us who like peace” Comment from reviews in the Ställplatser app.

Comment from the project: Here, they have based a lot on what was already in place at the homestead, and created a very quiet little pitch. At the same time as it provides extra income for the local association, the pitch also benefits the small studio cabin that is right next door. There, the motorhome traveler can watch glassblowing, buy art glass and utility glass and have a coffee in the shop's cafe.

Stand with the aim of benefiting the store's sales

In the parking lot outside Målerå's glassworks, some motorhome travelers already used to spend the night, even though there were no special pitches available. In discussions between the project and the mill, the decision was made to prepare 4 places that were marked as parking places and given access to electricity. Both to ensure that the overnight stay took place with control of the appropriate safety distance between the mobile homes and to strengthen the connection between the overnight stay and the glass factory.

"Perfect overnight stay, quiet and pleasant to sleep, paid in the Kristallshopen next to the place. There is fresh water, a good area to rest the dog. Helpful pitch owner” Comment from reviews in the Ställplatser app.

Comment from the project: As a shop or restaurant, connecting the pitch with the business can definitely benefit sales. As in this case, paying back the cost of the parking space when the motorhome traveler buys X amount of kroner in the store has been really good. The mill feels that virtually all motorhome guests have visited the store to shop.

The little extra in the treatment

Emmaboda municipality was looking for a new tenant for the Broakulla campsite and found Stina and Mats who took over the small gas station in Broakulla. They accepted and profiled the place to primarily focus on the motorhome traveler and the place is now called Broakulla Ställplats & Camping.

Every evening they visited the pitch to say hello and as a welcome gift they handed out a small bag of crisps and a bottle of sparkling water. The reception was widely spread in several channels that are followed by motorhome travelers and the number of visitors doubled several times over what they had initially expected.

"Very cozy pitch, fantastic host couple who welcomed us with a drink and a bag of chocolate. This is where we come back!” Comment from reviews in the Ställplatser app.

Comment from the project: The motorhome traveler is usually not a spoiled target group, so think about what you can do to get that little extra. Something that you yourself have access to or through a collaboration with a nearby actor. At Broakulla, visitors can also order breakfast rolls or other refreshments, which is appreciated. The motorhome traveler is good at spreading positive (and negative) experiences in social media and as reviews of the place. The little extra can really contribute to valuable marketing done by your visitors. Don't miss that chance.
