Archive Day - Glass Kingdom

Archive day: Small and large wonders in the archive

The design archive celebrates Archive Day with an open house and exhibition.
From the bottom of the sea, to the highest peak of the mountain and on into space. Nature has always inspired us humans and been a source of wonder, longing, dreams and fantasies - a fact that becomes clear in the Design Archive's collection. After a break of two years, we are happy to welcome the public to our traditional open house on Archives Day!

Archives Day is observed on the second Saturday in November around Sweden and the Nordics to arouse interest in the activities of archives in the broadest sense. This year, the Design Archive has been inspired by the small and large wonders of life that are embodied among the collection's hundreds of motifs and patterns.

In honor of the day, we show the special exhibition "Small and large wonders in the archive" which shows sketches and textiles by designers such as the ceramicist Hertha Bengtson, the textile designer Ingrid Dessau, Glasriket's own Erik Höglund and Ulrica Hydman Vallien and many more. The archive's staff are on site and tell you more about the collection, what an archive is and how it works.

During the day there are three opportunities to take a look at the archive spaces. Out of care for the archive, we can only accept a limited number of participants, arrive in time to secure your place.

The screenings take place at 11.30, 12.30, 14.30.

A warm welcome to us!
